Tree Climber - Learning To Take Control Of Mind And Emotion In Difficult Trees
Manage episode 349980833 series 3117500
No matter how long we’ve been in the industry or been climbing trees, no matter how much experience we have a house. Skilled we are in our climbing techniques and refilling processes, there will be a time when we confront a situation that puts us on edge. This happened to me recently for the first time in quite a while. This situation created anxiety stress, and even a little bit of fear that I haven’t felt in sometime in a tree. Because of this, I made decisions in a rushed manner, knowing full well that they weren’t the wisest. However, because all I could think of was how sketchy the trees were, and how much I wanted to get out of them and have the job done, I ignored, obvious signs of poor quality, cutting procedure, and chose to take risk that if I had just taken control of my emotions and thoughts in that moment, I wouldn’t have done. So this episode is explaining the conditions and the situation in which I was working as well as talking about why these decisions made me reevaluate and meditate on my need to continue to work on finding and taking control of situations where stress, anxiety and mental exhaustion are wearing on me. Hopefully this helps you out as well.
