When Mario’s brother pushes for a new investigation, his death is eventually reclassified as a homicide and a police officer named Jose Antonio Verduzco Flores is charged and convicted of Mario’s murder. However, Verduzco’s conviction is soon overturned and he is released from prison and no other suspects are ever charged with the crime.
