In this episode of The Plant Trainers Podcast, we talk with Vesanto Melina about how to adjust your diet if you are living with hypoglycemia or often get the case of being hangry! We begin by looking into this 78 year old dietician’s run in with the dairy industry and how to get enough calcium and vitamin D without the dairy products too. Then we move into managing low blood sugar levels and talk about lots of ways to make small changes to meals to stay satiated longer. You’ll love the tips you get here for children and adults and you may even find you can begin going longer stretches between meals. And of course she gives some good seasonal meal ideas.

Vesanto Melina, MS, Registered Dietitian is co-author of books that have won awards in the U.S. and Canada and received star rating by the American Library Association as “the go-to books” on plant-based nutrition. Most recent are Becoming Vegan (Comprehensive and Express Edition) and The Kick Diabetes Cookbook, (all with dietitian Brenda Davis). Vesanto has taught nutrition at Seattle’s Bastyr University and at the University of British Columbia and is a government consultant. She is lead author of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics current Position Paper on Vegetarian Diets. She is an internationally known speaker.
