Stories of Care Episode 4: Journeys with Communication
Journeys with Communication is the fourth episode of the podcast Stories of Care, a series featuring the clients, caregivers, friends and family of the C.A.R.E. Centre. C.A.R.E. is a recreational centre for adults living with severe physical disabilities, many of whom are non-verbal and communicate through low and high-tech communication systems. This episode focuses on these tools for communication, delving into the journeys with communication undertaken by the clients and their families.
Music in this podcast was composed by Tim Brady and performed by trumpeter Amy Horvey as a gift for C.A.R.E. client Alain, using his computer-generated voice (full piece here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=hf6ilU6rX8Y)
The sound of a Tobii Dynavox communication device, was manipulated based on the numbers for ‘Tool’ and ‘Say’ in Bliss Communication, a number-based system used in conjunction with the Dynavox: 0717 Tool 0710 Say
