Where in the world did “cancel culture” come from? It causes us to not feel “safe” in even the simplest of conversations. And safety allows you to show your true self. Today’s society does not at all seem “safe,” right? Many people feel as if they’re walking on eggshells.

In this episode of For Such A Time As This—Biblical Hope in a World Gone Mad, Cinthia Hiett and I talk about the phenomenon of cancel culture.

Topics discussed—

  • The loss of stress-relieving hormones because of cancel culture
  • The lack of physical, emotional, intellectual, and relational safety
  • The motives of those who use cancel culture to exert power
  • Honoring, caring, and be a champion for yourself
  • Cancel culture doesn’t respect the body
  • Some tips on communicating with someone using cancel culture and building relationship
    • “I’m interested in knowing more about that”
    • “That’s fascinating”
    • In the end, you can agree to disagree
  • The development of our brains is different at different ages
  • Just because someone says something confidently does not make it fact
