Dr. Lawrence D. Robinson is Director of Choral Activities, Piano Instructor, Senior Class Advisor, and recently been tasked with being the Fine Arts Department Chair at South Gwinnett High School (SGHS) in Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS). Additionally, Dr. Robinson was accepted into the GCPS Quality Plus Leadership Academy’s Aspiring Leaders Program-Cohort 16. (GCPS Assistant Principal hiring pool). He holds degrees from DePaul University, National-Louis University, Saint Xavier University, and Georgia State University (GSU). Dr. Robinson has 19 years’ experience developing and building high school choral departments, and currently teaches more than 300 choral and piano students at SGHS.Dr. Robinson is a native of Chicago and moved to Georgia in August 2009.

Dr. Robinson completed his research in partial fulfillment of his doctorate degree, researching the impact of culturally relevant pedagogy (CRP) (Ladson-Billings, 1995) on the continued participation of African American male chorus students in a high school chorus classroom. The study revealed that a positive classroom environment could have lasting impacts on students. His research expanded on current empirical studies regarding CRP and teaching strategies to best educate African American students.
