Enthusiasm vs. Expertise

I discuss the value of being an EdTech Enthusiast vs. an EdTech Expert. I share my thoughts, as well as mentioning some help I got from @AppEducationFox via #CAedchat

Share your thoughts on Enthusiasm vs. Expertise – Do you find that some consider you one when you think of yourself as another? Let me know in the comments!

Stepping into Twitter

In the toolbox we explore Twitter and why it takes time for people who are ideally suited for the platform to actually get started using it.

Who to follow:

Two of the main barriers to entry seem to be knowing who to follow, and knowing how to keep up. While I suggest not worrying about how to keep up, here is a beginning (and grossly incomplete) list of people I recommended to follow:
@AliceKeeler – Alice Keeler
@CoolCatTeacher – Vickie Davis
@AppEducationFox – Jo-Ann Fox
@web20classroom – Steven Anderson
@TeacherToolkit – Ross Morrison McGill
@TeacherCast – Jeffrey Bradbury
@davidtedu – David Theriault
@MsMagiera – Jennie Magiera
@mcleod – Scott McLeod
@gochemonline – JR Ginex-Orinion
While these are all great sources that I recommend – REMEMBER that these are MY choices, and they may not be yours. Check them out and see if you like what they have to say and share. Twitter is only useful to you if it fulfills your needs, not mine.

Twitter Chats

If you’re interested in joining a Twitter Chat, but don’t know where to find one that matches your needs, look no further:

Non-Tech Recthe-dark-tower-series_the-gunslinger-by-stephen-king

For the non-tech rec I chose a vast and sprawling series to make up for not having provided one in Episode 4

I recommend the Dark Tower series by Stephen King. This is nothing new to hardcore King fans, but to the less dedicated fans like me, this was a HUGE find.

This is a series of books that follow a man named Roland Deschain, who is kind of like a mix between a medieval knight, a cowboy, and a wandering samurai.

The books take us on a surreal journey through both Roland’s world and our own in a way that very few writers are able to accomplish.

These books are massive, so if you have the whole summer off, you may want to break into the series now.
