NEW SERIES:
HEART FOR THE COMMUNITY is our new series for the month of November. We will examine the first-century model and method of the Early Church that started in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and the uttermost parts of the earth, and the prophecies that fulfill God’s plans and purposes. To fulfill the Great Commission of Jesus as His disciples we must love our community by becoming the Hands and Feet of Jesus, and spread His message of Love and Good News to everyone we can.
COMMUNITY: creating an atmosphere where people feel a sense of belonging and can express shared values and ideas in a family environment
32 During those days, the entire COMMUNITY of believers was deeply UNITED in HEART and SOUL to such an extent that they stopped claiming private ownership of their possessions. Instead, they held everything in common. 33 The apostles with GREAT POWER gave their eyewitness reports of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. Everyone was surrounded by an EXTRAORDINARY GRACE. 34 Not a single person in the COMMUNITY was in need because those who had been affluent sold their houses or lands and brought the proceeds 35 to the emissaries [“apostles”] of the Lord. They then distributed the funds to individuals according to their needs. - Acts 4:33-35 (VOICE)
TWO THINGS THAT MUST HAPPEN BEFORE THE MESSIAH RETURNS:
1. The Gospel will be Preached in all the World to make disciples of all nations
2. The Holy Spirit’s Outpouring will empower the Believer to fulfill the Great Commission
“And this good news of the kingdom (the Gospel) will be preached throughout the whole world as a testimony to ALL THE NATIONS, and then will come the END.” - Matthew 24:14 (AMPC)
19 “Therefore, go and MAKE DISCIPLES of ALL THE NATIONS, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 TEACH these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the END of the age.” - Matthew 28:19-20 (NLT)
1 “On the day of Pentecost all the believers were meeting together in one place. ..4 And everyone present was FILLED with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability. 5 At that time there were devout Jews from EVERY NATION living in Jerusalem. 6 When they heard the loud noise, everyone came running, and they were bewildered to hear their own languages being spoken by the believers. - Acts 2:1-6 (NLT)
17 ‘In the LAST DAYS,’ God says, ‘I will POUR OUT my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams. 18 In THOSE DAYS I will POUR OUT my Spirit even on my servants—men and women alike—and they will prophesy….21 But everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’ - Acts 2:14-18,21 (NLT)
HOW SHOULD I PREPARE TO BE THE HANDS AND FEET OF JESUS:
1. WE MUST ALLOW THE HOLY SPIRIT TO GIVE US A HEART FOR THE COMMUNITY
5 Hope, in its turn, does not make us ashamed, because the LOVE OF GOD has been POURED OUT in our HEARTS through the HOLY SPIRIT…8 But this is how God demonstrates His own LOVE for us: the Messiah died for us while we were still sinners…10 When we were enemies, you see, we were RECONCILED to God through the death of His son; if that’s so, how much more, having already been RECONCILED, shall we be saved by His life. 11 And that’s not all. We even celebrate in God, through our Lord Jesus the Messiah, through whom we have now received this RECONCILIATION. - Romans 5:5-6,8,10-11 (NTFE)
15 It is God who has been at work in us to do this, the God who has given us the Spirit as the first installment and guarantee…17 Thus, if anyone is in the Messiah, there is a new creation! Old things
