Comparison and identity are topics that are important for us as Christians, as business owners and as women.

We're going to dig into the Bible and see what it says about identity and how we can use our identity in Christ to remind ourselves who we are.

This show is a continuation of show number 69, Remember Your Identity. If you haven't listened to it, I invite you to go listen now.

One of the things I wrote in my devotional book, Created for This, is how powerful God's love is for you. He calls you his daughter and we can find our identity deeply rooted in him.

Psalm 139:13-16 says, "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be."

I love the idea that God knows us. We're deeply rooted in him and we have the identity of being his child.

We don't need to compare ourselves because God created us an individual, he created our personalities, our values and what we hold dear. Our priorities.

We might have the same values, but we've had different life experiences.

If you look at the Proverbs 31 woman, she's confident in who God created her to be, and in her identity.

When we continually find our identity in him, we can focus on him and who he's created us to be, instead of people on Instagram and what our competitors are doing. Or those who judge us.

I don't know if you have people in your life who ask you what you're doing. As an essential oils educator and distributor, there's automatically a label. Yes, it's a direct sales business, but God's given me a passion to teach and educate people and SO much good has come out of it.

I can teach people how to use oils to help their bodies for wellness or to support emotions.

He's created me with my specific enneagram number, with my specific life experiences so I can coach Christian business owners so I can say that I've walked this path, let's get you through this too. And helping them come from step A to step B.

One of the things I love to coach on is identity. So that they can be who God has created them to be, as a child of God. So they're able to embrace and love who God has created them to be.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------- How do you avoid comparison - looking to Jesus and looking to him as our mirror. Asking him to show us who he's created us to be in a way that allows me to not compare myself. When we're content and we understand who God's created us to be, we understand that we have a value. We know that what we're doing is what God's calling us to. He's telling us to walk in this path. You guys, that's so powerful as we look at others in comparison to what we're doing. I love the phrase community over competition because it allows us to join together. There may be a different life coach who's had different life experiences. I need to be content and competent in who God's created me to be so I can take that to the people who are in my life. I can take that to the people who I'm coaching with. He's placed other people in other people's lives so they can share those life experiences too. I don't believe that any life experience is wasted. I've walked through some really dark and lonely days and he uses that for his good. When we understand that we don't need to be comparing ourselves to others. We can ask ourselves "What do I like about myself?" "What do you think and know about your God-given strengths and abilities? We're oftentimes doing those things in our businesses. We're probably doing a lot of other things, but we get to operate out of those strengths. God has given us the abilities to do those things. "What picture or image describes you?" "How do you feel about God's love and acceptance of you?" These are great questions say who am I and how do I not compare myself. We ask these things to remind yourself of who God's created you to be. They allow us to remember that God's created your identity and he's given us the ability to bring glory to him. Something else that's really important is the use of affirmations. One of the ways I do this through repeating and meditating on Bible verses that remind us who we are. I've got biblical affirmations that I will share with you so you can print them off and speak over yourself. You can get these here. I read these at night while I'm brushing my teeth. I also repeat them when I'm struggling. I like to remind myself of who I am and who I am. If this is an area that you're wanting coaching around, or you feel like you're stuck and you want to know your identity. I'd love to talk about coaching with you. If you want to schedule a discovery call, I'd love to see if it works and if I can help you identify your identity and what gift God's given you. We can focus on who God wants you to be, so you don't have to be comparing yourself. My heart in talking about your identity is that you come to know God as your creator so God can show up and show himself as your creator so you can shine your light to the world. People need women who are confident in who God created them to be for his glory. I really encourage you to take time to discover your identity and make your own affirmations or grab mine.
