Most of us don't remember our first two or three years of life — but our earliest experiences may stick with us for years and continue to influence us well into adulthood. We all live different lives. Pain and struggles contribute a lot to shape an individual.

(5:22) Deep dive about her childhood

(22:04) The mission of Epic Talks

(27:29) Greatness of emotional intelligence

(46:00) Importance of self-love

In this episode of Be Real, I welcome Melitsa Waage for an epic talk about emotional intelligence, strength, self-love, dealing with discouragements, and going through life with a victor mentality.

She has not just overcome being called a loser, she's thriving building one of the most successful networking companies in the world, and she's doing it as a woman who was told "you're never gonna amount to anything". Melitsa is the founder of Epic Talks, which is currently the number one networking event in the world. She connects people together, bringing in speakers, motivators, educators and coaches. She established a place to network and build relationships with people who are looking to elevate their lifestyle and mindset.

But who would have thought that this powerhouse woman went through so much before getting where she is now? Melitsa had a tough childhood. Her biological parents were both Heroin junkies, and she went to the foster system at the age of three. She vividly remembers how she was taken away, and she and her siblings starved at a very young age. Today, she will dive deep about herself and bring out her story to the surface instead of burying it. She will share how her journey made her become who she is today, how she embraced the struggles she experienced, and how she embraced the rejection she had to endure.
