While legends like Travis, Bowie, and Crockett stood at the forefront of the battle, people like Joe, a young Black man enslaved by Travis, survived to tell a truth history tried to erase. Joe and others, including Rebecca, Sam, and Charlie, served, endured, and witnessed the fall of the Alamo without ever being remembered.
