A very happy new year to all LFC fans and a big thanks for your support with the pod. Here’s to a successful (hopefully) trophy-laden 2024 for the Reds. Drew looks back at Liverpool’s final two fixtures of a busy Christmas period, which saw the Reds hoover up maximum points. A 2-0 Boxing Day win at Burnley was followed up by a hugely dominant 4-2 victory in front of a raucous Anfield on New Year’s Day. That coupled with the recent results of our rivals means that we are now legitimately clear at the top of the Premier League table once more - with just over half of the season gone. Everything points to a super-exciting second half to the season and a fascinating title race in the weeks to come. But there’s now a lengthy break before the next round of Premier League games and we now travel to the Emirates Stadium to face a wounded Arsenal side in what’s likely to be a tough assignment in North London.…

Drew looks back at a tense and pulsating encounter at Anfield which ended in a share of the spoils - and reflects on where he sees the title race following the 1-1 draw. Liverpool have now dropped points in consecutive home games, but remain well placed in the running, just a point off top spot. Mo Salah’s stunning first half strike followed Gabriel’s opener in the first 5 minutes - but there was more bad news on the injury front with Kostas Tsimikas ruled out for the long-term with a broken collar bone. There was some questionable refereeing along with some more than questionable finishing in key moments - but ultimately it felt like the right result and the Gunners will now enjoy Christmas at the top of the tree.
