Away With Words is a podcast by Portsmouth Poetry. Dance to the music of rhythm and rhyme is our tagline. Established in 2016 we are a non-profit body encouraging poets and poetry in the city of Portsmouth UK, specialising in community and educational projects.www.portsmouthpoetry.co.ukWho we are:Josh Brown FRSA - Josh, a retired lecturer in Business & Marketing, was Chair of the New Theatre Royal Portsmouth from 2009 to 2015 and oversaw the £4.5m fundraising and rebuild of the lost stage house. On stepping down from the NTR position, Josh formed Portsmouth Poetry. Josh is a Welsh Rygbi supporter, devotee of poetry, theatre and the arts, and passionate follower of the life and work of Dylan Thomas.Liz Weston - Liz has a been involved in a wide range of arts - from fringe theatre in the 1970's to, most recently, Education and Outreach Manager at the New Theatre Royal. She was one of the team who set up the street theatre in Covent Garden; ran a cabaret circus and managed Covent Garden Community Theatre. In the 80's she was the founder director of the Hornpipe Arts Centre in Portsmouth, bringing such companies as Gay Sweatshop and Spare Tyre to the city. She believes in the power of live arts - the dynamics created when performer and audience share a space.
