Center Point Assembly

Sunday, May 4, 2025 – We are in the second week of our study on the 16 Fundamental Truths of the Assemblies of God, focusing today on our 4th Fundamental Tenet: “The Fall of Man.” We spend the entire message discussing something as basic as the fall of mankind because unless we recognize from what we are saved, we cannot truly appreciate what we are saved from. Before man can fall from the grace of God, mankind must first be created. Sometimes we forget how grand our creation was. God had a plan for all of mankind when He formed man from the dust and breathed His eternal breath into that lump of clay. That plan was a plan of perfection and eternal relationship with Himself. God’s pattern for mankind was His own image. Have you ever considered what it means to be created in the image of God? When we fathom what that means, it gives us a whole new perspective on our purpose for living and how we should strive to live. Here’s the amazing part: even after mankind sinned and fell away from God’s grace and relationship, He had a plan to redeem. We will spend our next time discussing the fifth tenet of our faith, “The Salvation of Man,” but first we need to appreciate how much God loves us unconditionally, even after mankind fell. Worship and study along with us and appreciate God’s love.…

Sunday, April 27, 2025 – Today, we are beginning a short series discussing the Fellowship of the Assemblies of God. This will be more of a teaching series than a preaching series, just so you are aware if you are interested in watching. I begin today by giving a short overview of the Assemblies of God’s national, international, and local organization. The reason is that it’s important for those who choose to call this their home church to understand whom they are worshipping under and submitting to. We are very transparent and open to any questions you may have regarding who we are and what we believe. After this, I will begin a study on the 16 Fundamental Truths or Tenets of our Faith. It’s essential for us to have a solid foundation of our faith, beginning with a sincere and unwavering belief as we discuss the first three tenets: The Bible is the inspired Word of God, secondly, The One True God, and then finally, for today, The Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ. You are strongly encouraged to worship and study along with us online or come be with us on Sundays at 10:30.…

Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025 – Happy and glorious Resurrection Sunday! This is the flagship day of our Christian faith. If Christ hadn’t risen, we would have no reason to celebrate. Amen? But do you also realize that Easter is more than a one-day event? Easter truly began long ago on the first Christmas Day; the day Jesus was born marked the beginning of the Easter celebration. Christmas and Easter are the bookends of the greatest news and celebration on planet Earth. That’s why we can creatively call this the “Celebration of Chreaster.” Jesus was born to die a sacrificial death, paying in full the debt that only He could pay for the sins of all mankind. So, on the day we celebrate the birth of Jesus through our gifts, Jesus began His earthly life of sacrifice and suffering, culminating on Easter Sunday, all for the joy set before Him. That joy was for every person who would choose to accept His sacrifice as the forgiveness of our sins, so that they can have a restored relationship with their Heavenly Father. Worship and study with us in our celebration of Chreaster a little differently on this day.…

Sunday, April 13, 2025 – Palm Sunday! Also known as “The Triumphal Entry” this was the day when Jesus openly declared himself to be the King of the Jews and to be recognized as King of Kings for all men and for all eternity. This is certainly a day to be celebrated and honored above all others! However, not everyone in that crowd waving palm branches truly understood who Jesus was, so the message of that day was missed by many. Jesus knew this, and when He reflected on the state of those in Jerusalem at that time, He wept because most of the people didn’t recognize this as a day that God had visited them. They misunderstood the kingdom that Jesus came to rule over. They were expecting an earthly kingdom, while Jesus was offering them an eternal spiritual kingdom. It didn’t take but a few days for many in that crowd to start crying, “Crucify Him. " The question we pose today is this: Who is Jesus to you? If you were in that crowd, who would you be? Today, the same types of people exist in our society and in our churches. Are they receiving the message of Palm Sunday and Easter in the way Jesus intended? Think about this as you worship and study with us.…

Sunday, April 6, 2025 – Pastor Ryp Hankins is delivering the word today, and the title of his message is “Living a Godly Life.” This may seem easy or impossible, depending on your standing with the Lord. Regardless of how you feel about your relationship with God, this message presents a challenge because it’s all too easy for a spirit of compromise to infiltrate one’s life, as Pastor Ryp notes. It’s a valuable daily practice to take spiritual inventory of one’s life, not in a way that brings condemnation- because that’s not what the Holy Spirit does- but rather to highlight specific areas that He may want each of us to address. Why? Because He loves each of us so much, He desires a pure heart and mind that is pleasing to our Heavenly Father. Worship, pray, and study with us as we strive to live a Godly Life for the Glory of God.…

Sunday, March 23, 2025 – The title of today’s message as we continue our study of 1 John is, “Understanding the End Time and the Last Days.” Prophecy makes up a large percentage of Scripture, and it’s important for us to do our best to understand it. To appreciate it, we must understand some definitions. That’s the thrust of today’s message: helping us discern the times we’re living in by understanding the terminology and applicable Bible texts. When someone says we’re living in the “end times” or the “last days,” do we understand what is being said? To simplify, the “End Time” timeframe is the umbrella term for the entire end-time events for both the Church and the Nation of Israel. I mention the Church and Israel separately for a reason. They are not the same entity, nor does God have the same plan for them. Israel is God’s chosen people, going way back into the Old Testament, while the Church was established on the Day of Pentecost as defined by Jesus. Each entity has its own “Last Days” associated with it. The Church’s “Last Days” will end at the Rapture when it is taken up to Heaven as the “Bride of Christ.” Israel’s “Last Days” will conclude at the end of the 7-year Tribulation when, as a Nation, they accept Jesus as the Messiah, thus ushering in the Second Coming. One more thing to mention: the “Return of Christ” is one event with two stages or phases. The first phase is the Rapture of the Church, and the second phase is the Second Coming at the end of the Tribulation. There’s so much more we can discuss, but time is limited. Worship and study with us.…

Sunday, March 16, 2025 – We’re still studying 1 John 2:15-17, and the title of our message today is: “Living in but Not Loving the World.” There are many things in life that we can control and many more that we cannot. We have no say in the nature or condition of the “world” we inhabit. For this reason, we must understand the definition of the word “world. " The Bible uses this word from two different perspectives. The first definition of “world” refers to the created world described in Genesis 1. God created the world and everything in it and was pleased with it, indicating that it was perfect and given to mankind to steward and rule over. However, Satan’s temptation to rebel against God led Adam and Eve to exchange their domain and rulership of the world for a bite of fruit taken in rebellion. Thus, mankind relinquished the rulership of the perfect created world to Satan, marking the beginning of the second definition of the word: the “Kosmos World,” which represents the organizational system of the fallen subset of the created world. Since then, Satan has actively twisted and distorted everything about the perfect “Created World” into an evil-inspired “Kosmos World System” in which we live. This is the chaos we experience in our world system today. This is the world that we are warned not to love in our text today. Worship and study with us as we learn about the three main temptations in this “Kosmos World,” identified as the “Lust of the Flesh, " the “Lust of the Eyes,” and the “Pride of Life.”…

Sunday, March 9, 2025 – The title of today’s study on 1 John 2:12-24 is “Abide & Grow.” Here’s a question to consider as we begin: “What is the overall theme of Scripture?” There are various answers, but today's study highlights “Spiritual Growth” as one of the key themes. Physical growth and spiritual growth have much in common. It’s clear from Scripture that God wants His children to grow into spiritually mature men and women capable of overcoming the enemy. God does not want anyone to remain a “spiritual baby” longer than necessary. Physically, we cannot alter our growth process; we have no choice – we are going to grow old. However, our spiritual growth is entirely about choice. We can choose whether and how quickly we are going to grow spiritually. Does this make sense? God is a finisher – meaning that He doesn’t start with the intention of not finishing, and neither should we. Our spiritual growth depends on the energy and effort we invest in it. We grow by abiding in Christ and remaining connected to the vine, as described in John 15. Worship and study with us as we abide and grow in Christ.…

Sunday, March 2, 2025 – Today’s message continues our study of 1 John and is titled “Light Reveals Love.” The Apostle John, known as the Apostle of Love, had a different disposition in his younger years. He and his brother James were nicknamed the “Sons of Thunder” by Jesus due to their hot-tempered and impulsive nature. However, after years of reflecting on Jesus' teachings and experiencing both physical and spiritual maturity, he recognizes that Love is the better way to navigate life. Love is the central theme of today’s message. How we love others is a significant indicator of whether we are genuine followers of Jesus. We live in a world of spiritual darkness; John tells us that we know we are true followers of Christ if we walk in the light and love our fellow brothers and sisters as Christ does. A clear sign of our love is how far we are willing to limit our spiritual liberties to avoid becoming a stumbling block or, in other words, a negative influence in someone else’s life. Scripture warns strongly against those who would cause a weaker or younger believer to stumble and fall away from God's grace. Our Christian liberties come with serious responsibilities and consequences if we live carelessly. Worship and study with us as we are encouraged and challenged in our exploration.…

Sunday, February 23, 2025 – Today’s message is titled “Living in Obedient Love” as we continue our study on 1 John, focusing on 1 John 2:1-6. As the title suggests, the word “living” implies a daily exercise or progression. John teaches that the life of a Christian is one of progress, moving from striving not to sin but recognizing that if one does sin, God has a plan for forgiveness, provided one understands the role of Jesus as their advocate in God’s court of heavenly justice. I realize I just said a lot that you may not fully understand, and that’s okay because that’s what this message is about. We will discuss what an “advocate” is and their vital role. Scripture shows us that both the Holy Spirit and Jesus bear the title of advocate. Both are essential, bringing sinful mankind back into a just and holy relationship with a Holy and Just God. However, they differ in function and location, and we will explain that. The end result of learning to live in “obedient love” is that we obey Jesus' commands not because we “have to” or because we “need to” but because we “want to.” When we reach that stage in our mature Christian walk, we can experience the Joy of the Lord as our strength, living a fulfilled life now while looking forward to a rewarding and joyful eternity. Worship and study with us.…

Sunday, February 16, 2025 – We continue our study of 1 John, and Pastor Mike has titled the message “Walk in the Light.” In this discussion, we will see that God truly desires a relationship with us rather than just a form of religion concerning Him. Our text is 1 John 1:5-10. He begins by making it clear to his readers that the message he is sharing comes directly from Jesus; this is not something John is making up on his own in the moment. He then declares something very interesting about God: He says God is light, and there is no darkness in Him. Of all the characteristics of God, isn't it fascinating that John emphasizes that God is light over other descriptions? Why is light so significant? That’s what we’ll discuss in this week’s message. Light reveals things hidden in darkness. John clearly states in this letter and also in the Gospel of John that men love darkness because their deeds are evil, and they hate the light. They despise the light because they are afraid of having their deeds exposed. But remember, the reason God’s light exposes sin is so that men can be forgiven if they would only seek it. God’s promise is to forgive all those who ask. Worship and study with us as we walk in the Light.…

Sunday, February 9, 2025 – Pastor Mike is starting our study on 1 John today, titled “Religion vs Relationship.” The Apostle John uses the first few verses of this chapter to lay the foundation for the reality of who Jesus is, affirming that He is both a real man and fully God. It’s essential for him to address this because Satan has been very active in sowing confusion within the early church regarding the humanity and deity of Jesus, aiming to keep “Religion” as the dominant theme in the worship experiences of false gods. John, along with the other disciples, had a personal relationship with Jesus while He walked this earth and died a sacrificial death to pay for our sins. This marks the beginning of the “Relationship” experience tied to the Good News of the Gospel. Consequently, John and the other writers of the New Testament worked tirelessly to promote “Relationship” over “Religion” as the way to God through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. The focus on “Religion” remains an effective strategy used by the enemy to undermine “Relationship” even today. In short, “Religion” doesn’t save anyone; only a “Relationship” with Jesus does. Worship and study with us and center your life on your relationship with Jesus.…

Sunday, February 2, 2025, Pastor Ryp Hankins delivers an inspiring and thought-provoking message titled “Living Under the Fear of the Lord.” Before you watch, consider this question: Would you prefer to listen to a message that you WANT to hear or one that challenges you to reflect on what you truly NEED to hear? Do you recognize the difference? Understanding this question is the first step toward living under the fear of the Lord. If you are only interested in messages that affirm your current way of living, without reflecting on whether it aligns with God’s desires, it may indicate that you don’t fully grasp what it means to live under the fear of the Lord. Pastor Ryp offers a compelling explanation of what it means to live not in fear, but under the fear of God. So, take a moment to settle in and pay attention. Enjoy the worship and be ready to be challenged by the Word.…

Sunday, January 26, 2025, We’re privileged to have the Men’s Keryx in Community (KIC) join us for worship this morning. Pastor Ryp's message is titled "Learning to Minister in Weakness." God gifts everyone who chooses to follow Him with special and unique abilities intended to build up the Church. Every gift is a form of ministry, even if many don’t see it that way. People often operate most effectively in their "Ministry Gift" when they feel their weakest. God has a unique way of making us strong and effective, even when we feel vulnerable. In fact, if we believe we can do ministry on our own and by our own strength, we are likely setting ourselves up for failure. Therefore, you are encouraged to worship and study with us as we explore the power and authority we discover when God uses our weaknesses to make us powerfully effective in His Kingdom.…

Sunday, January 19, 2025 – Today, we introduce our new study of 1 John by providing a general overview of this letter. Last week, we presented the Apostle John as the writer and noted that, like all the disciples and apostles, John was a flawed and imperfect person, just like us. Nevertheless, the Holy Spirit could still inspire him to accomplish great things. This encourages us to seek the same inspiration from the Holy Spirit to read and apply the truths of their experiences and teachings. This is what we aim to uncover in this study. The issues they faced are just the beginnings of the same challenges we encounter today, and everything John writes about is applicable and beneficial for us. As we go through this study, let’s be open-minded to accept his teachings and learn to apply everything he instructs us to do and be. Let’s study and learn together to be useful in the Kingdom until Jesus returns to take His Church away.…
