a podcast by john wanzel
Field recordings of ambience, textures and explorations.
An interesting podcast. Conversations with some of the people who make Buffalo better but don't necessarily show up on the morning news. Focus on musicians, entrepreneurs, sports and other stuff that we like. Ben Kirst: @bk77 Frank Conjerti: @fdc245

With a Recorder in my pocket, we plunge into the oceans of imagination. Join me, as we visit places from all over the world. Field Recording is most beautiful, when you forget time and just drop into pure listening.
FR NYC is working to archive the many sounds of New York City, large and small. It is far too easy to be caught up by the speed of New York and forget about all there is to appreciate surrounding us at any given moment. This project's goal is to remind us to step aside on occasion and center ourselves. Even the busiest of cities can seem incredibly calm from a distance. Contact: fieldrecordingsnyc@gmail.com

“I recorded this at dawn, at the edge of a vast forest on the north-west bank of Loch Laidon on Rannoch Moor, on a dry and bright but blustery Spring morning. The focus of this recording is the fluctuating wind, swaying a couple of the many thousands of huge pine trees. I’m told that this forest was planted in the 1970s and 1980s, at a time when we…

A new composition for watching the snow melt, or watching the ice float on the Lake, or to calm the mind as it awaits the future. Always remember, composer Milton Feldman worked at his family’s business (manufacturing children’s coats) until he was forty-four, so work tomorrow isn’t going to be that bad. This piece is the second in a series of work…
