Notes:
Our limitations in the midst of overwhelming need…whisper to us that doing nothing is better than doing something that falls short
It’s impossible to live a life that counts when we choose to do nothing
Sometimes we buy into a half-truth that can rob our life of meaningful purpose
How do normal people experience a meaningful purpose in the midst of the daily grind of life?
Half-Truth:
The need is almost always greater than our resources.
Do real limitations disqualify us from meaningful purpose?
By this time it was late in the day, so his disciples came to him. “This is a remote place,” they said, “and it’s already very late. Send the people away so that they can go to the surrounding countryside and villages and buy themselves something to eat.”
- Mark 6:35-44/Matthew 14:15-21
But he answered, “You give them something to eat.”
They said to him, “That would take more than half a year’s wages! Are we to go and spend that much on bread and give it to them to eat?”
- Mark 6:35-44/Matthew 14:15-21
“How many loaves do you have?” he asked. “Go and see.” “We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish,” they answered. “Bring them here to me,” he said.
Then Jesus directed them to have all the people sit down in groups on the green grass.
- Mark 6:35-44/Matthew 14:15-21
Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people. They all ate and were satisfied…
- Mark 6:35-44/Matthew 14:15-21
