Habits of a healthy heart – get rid of your guilt (Steve Fenning) - Week 4
Manage episode 442317058 series 3120027
There's a helpful mantra that says "If you want to change your life, change your habits." This is true, but if you want to change your habits and make them stick, something has to change within us – in our heart. This series explores those habits that go beyond attending slimming world and stopping smoking. It's all about the habits of a healthy heart. “Nobody’s perfect.” We hear this all the time and usually it’s said to explain away a mistake or a wilful act that has hurt someone else. It’s true, isn’t it; we all do things wrong! But how we feel about that determines our response. We can be sorry that we got caught or sorry that we did it. We can try and brush it away or excuse/justify ourselves or we can take responsibility for what we’ve done and apologise. Regret and guilt can be like a crippling disease and we don’t have to live this way. How do we deal with the stuff we wish we’d never done? Well, there’s a habit we can practise that brings freedom, healing, hope and peace – it’s called the habit of Godly sorrow… The Forge Community Church is a church in Suffolk with a mission to help people find and follow Jesus. The Forge meet physically in Debenham Community Center and have environments for adults kids and youth.
